About the owners
Fleetwood Farm Winery is the creation of Skip Edgemond and Jamie McClellan, two University of California, Davis alumni whose paths led from collegiate athletics to Virginia winemaking. After relocating their landscaping and design business to Loudoun County, the couple discovered that the property’s historic manor and gently rolling fields were too extraordinary not to share. Though Skip admits he’s not the wine lover of the pair, Jamie’s enthusiasm for the craft inspired the transformation of the farm into a welcoming destination for wine, food, and community. Together, they have built Fleetwood into a reflection of their shared values—creativity, hospitality, and the joy of bringing people together.
History of the venue
Fleetwood’s story begins long before the first vines were planted. The manor house, constructed around 1765 by William Ellzey, a prominent lawyer and gentleman farmer, once served as the heart of a 200-year-old family estate. In the late 20th century, the property evolved from sheep farm to bed and breakfast to luxury rental before Skip and Jamie purchased it in 2016. They saw in it the bones of something special—a place where history and nature could coexist beautifully. Through careful renovation, they preserved the home’s colonial character while reimagining it as a modern wine estate complete with manicured gardens, patios, and intimate tasting spaces that honor its heritage.
Winemaking philosophy
Fleetwood Farm Winery embraces a global yet local approach to winemaking, curating a refined selection of wines crafted both in Virginia and beyond. Visitors can explore wines that reflect Virginia’s growing excellence alongside internationally inspired vintages chosen for their quality and character. Paired with locally sourced cuisine, live music, and serene garden views, Fleetwood invites guests to savor not just the wine but the moment—to gather, unwind, and find tranquility amid Loudoun County’s countryside charm.
