About the owners
Blooming Hill is owned and operated by Cyndie and Peter Rinek, who live on the property and personally tend its gardens. Cyndie brings a background in writing and retail management, along with more than twenty-five years of hands-on experience cultivating lavender. Peter is a registered landscape architect and planner with over three decades of professional practice, as well as an accomplished builder and artist, shaping both the gardens and the structures visitors see today.
History of the venue
The Rineks have lived at Blooming Hill since 1994, gradually transforming their four-acre property in western Loudoun’s Blue Ridge foothills into a small, highly personal garden destination. After years of selling plants, crafts, and artwork at regional garden fairs and shows, they opened the on-site shop in April 2010, creating a permanent space to share their gardens and lavender-focused work with visitors. Over time, the property has grown into a carefully layered landscape rather than a traditional farm operation.
Winemaking philosophy
Blooming Hill centers on an extensive lavender collection—more than 1,000 plants representing nearly 100 varieties—woven throughout the gardens and surrounding fields. Visitors are invited to wander the property, explore the garden-style shop, and learn directly from the owners through lavender-themed talks, tours, and seasonal tea events held outdoors among the plantings. The shop features homegrown lavender products, handmade wreaths, unique plants, and garden décor, all reflecting the Rineks’ modern country aesthetic and their emphasis on small-scale craftsmanship, education, and sensory experience.
