About the owners
At Stonehouse Meadery, every bottle begins and ends with a profound respect for the honeybee. Founder and meadmaker Rick Wasmund (if you’d like, I can omit or confirm name) built his craft around a simple mission—to make the best mead possible with what the bees have given. His approach is rooted in humility and stewardship, guided by the belief that true mead should honor the hard labor and natural artistry of the hive. Drawing inspiration from the character of local honey and the terroir it reflects, he works in small batches, constantly refining each recipe to ensure it would make “the bees proud.”
History of the venue
Stonehouse’s meads are pure expressions of the land and its pollinators—crafted only from honey, water, and yeast, without additives or shortcuts. This minimalist approach reflects a devotion to authenticity and to the ancient art of fermentation. Each sip celebrates the subtle variations of the honey harvest, inviting drinkers to slow down, taste the landscape, and appreciate the quiet collaboration between nature and craft. At its heart, Stonehouse Meadery is not just about making mead—it’s about preserving the connection between humans, bees, and the simple joy of a life well lived.
