About the owners
Two Twisted Posts Winery is family-owned and operated by Brad and Theresa Robertson, who bring complementary expertise to the vineyard. Brad, the vineyard manager, draws on a deep family heritage of farming and a personal background in orchard production, while Theresa, one of Virginia’s few female winemakers, has crafted an award-winning style influenced by French techniques but distinctly her own. Together, they embody a love of the land, a pride in Loudoun County, and a commitment to making visitors feel welcome—whether chatting in the tasting room or leading walking tours through the vines.
History of the venue
The winery’s name traces back to an antique wine bottle dating to 1715 from the Two Twisted Posts Tavern in Colchester, England, the town where Theresa was born. Discovering that an identical seal had also been found in Virginia sealed the name’s significance and tied the family’s story to both sides of the Atlantic. The winery’s official debut came in 2011, when their very first bottling won a gold medal for Chardonnay at the Virginia Governor’s Cup and was selected for the Governor’s Case, marking a celebrated start to their journey.
Winemaking philosophy
At Two Twisted Posts, the Robertsons believe that great wine begins with great grapes. They follow a minimalistic, eco-friendly approach to vineyard care, letting the quality of the Shenandoah Mountain soils and the grapes themselves speak through in the wine. Theresa’s winemaking blends French influence with her own creative style, producing Chardonnays that have earned Gold and Double Gold from Virginia to San Francisco, as well as a portfolio of wines that continue to bring home awards year after year. The guiding philosophy is simple but firm: respect the land, tend the vines with care, and craft wines that reflect both place and passion.
